Note:  Newspaper reported that Ed “Strangler” Lewis had traveled to Charlotte with “Ralph
Mondt of New York, who is handling the five-time champion’s road tour.” Lewis claimed to
have wrestled 4,000 times in 25 years and stated that Gus Sonnenberg gave him his
hardest match.  He also said that he saved his money, which goes against most reports on
his spending habits.  Lewis reportedly weighed 245 pounds.  He “gave a Tunney exhibition
between falls with a talk on the manly art of wrestling.”

Notes:  Herb Freeman avoided a suspension by paying a $10 fine and was placed on
probation for his actions in his bout with McLain.  Plummer “once chased Jack Dempsey
from the ring when the former heavyweight boxing champion was refereeing a match in
Baton Rouge, La., and who tore up a ring in Chicago when he became incensed at the
decision of the officials.” Plummer was from Central City, Iowa.  Morgan was a “former
Maine lumberjack and Texas brewery hand” and he weighed 270-280 pounds.
