*On behalf of Ed Lewis, manager Jerry M. Walls issued a challenge to local superstar
Charlie Cutler through the Sporting Editor of the Chicago Daily Tribune.  A match was
quickly signed.  Lewis worked out at Lewis’ Gymnasium and Cutler trained at O’Connell’s
Gymnasium.  Promoter Edward White received $250 from each wrestler.
