
*In between the final show in Houston in mid-December 1966, and the first show of 1967, legendary Houston promoter Morris Sigel passed away. According to the Houston Post (12/30/66), the promotion was going to continue "under the guidance of Morris' daughter, Shirley Carriger, who has been assistant promoter for th past several years." The Gulf Athletic Club, which was formed by Sigel, held the lease on the Coliseum and had a state license to promote matches. Houston, Texas: January 6, 1967 (Sam Houston Coliseum) ... Ernie Ladd vs. Kinji Shibuya Notes: According to the Houston Post (12/23/66), wrestling was returning to television on January 6, 1967 with "an hour of the action on Friday nights," which "will be taped and shown on Saturday nights from 9-10 p.m. The show was featured on Houston's new UHF station, channel 39.
