Kaufman said that "Stecher is not a member of the so-called trust and is working independently with his brother, Tony Stecher, his manager." He didn't think he could beat Mondt. Mondt was said to have begun working with Ben Pohl, "an expert in applying the [body] scissors," according to the Kansas City Star. Ticket prices were $3, $2, and $1. A no smoking rule was adopted for the show and firemen were going to be on hand to make sure it is enforced.
