*A report in newspapers, across the Associated Press wire on Saturday, March 5, 1938, stated that Ali Baba was fined $100 and suspended for a year by the Missouri State Athletic Commission for his actions in St. Joseph on Friday night. “Garrett Smalley of Kansas City, chairman of the commission, said the wrestler struck the referee and was guilting of ‘ungentlemenly conduct’ in a bout with Bobie (sic) Osborn. A ‘near riot’ resulted, he said.” Research by Tim Hornbaker |
