In August 1953, before the annual convention, Sam Muchnick had some correspondence with Dr. Karl Sarpolis, who was in Los Angeles to help Cal Eaton. Eaton had recently separated from Hugh Nichols and Johnny Doyle, and - without an NWA booking agent to supply talent - was in real trouble. Eaton hoped Sarpolis could attain NWA membership, and bring in the same type of talent Doyle had been supplying at the Olympic Auditorium. Muchnick urged Sarpolis to return his application for membership prior to the 1953 convention. Research by Tim Hornbaker December 10, 2010 |
