has been signed to act as matchmaker for the Garden, also has arranged five limit
matches.” A report, run across the International News Service, stated that Zbyszko had
retired from wrestling, only to contract to work as matchmaker at the Garden, according to
Colonel John S. Hammond, vice president of the Madison Square Garden Corporation.

*Various newspapers across the country in the days prior to Zbyszko’s matchmaking debut
at Madison Square Garden speculated about a new wrestling war sprouting in the east
between Stanislaus and the Jack Curley-Ray Fabiani syndicate, of which he was formerly
aligned.  Curley had been previously the “wrestling advisor” for the New York Athletic
Commission.  Interestingly, Curley’s operations ran in opposition at Ridgewood Grove on
April 2.
