A longtime multi-sport athlete and independent wrestler, Marvin Buckwalter died in April 1985 in Rock Island, Illinois.  Buckwalter claimed numerous championships over his 20+ year involved in wrestling, and was also a boxer and semi-professional baseball player.  He was born on October 9, 1913 in Missouri, and gained fame wrestling in smaller clubs throughout Iowa and Illinois.
