Note:  The Montreal Star reported that Yukon Eric was wrestling in Montreal despite “being under suspension by the National Wrestling Association.  The United States body didn’t like the way Yukon deported himself in a match down there, but his suspension doesn’t rate with the Canadian Federation.”

Note:  There was speculation in Montreal whether Wilbur Snyder would be allowed to keep the championship belt, signifying the World Heavyweight Championship locally, because he won the final fall by disqualification.  It was noted that the week before, “Whipper” Billy Watson had defeated National Wrestling Alliance World Heavyweight Champion Lou Thesz by disqualification in Toronto.  The NWA Title could not change hands by DQ, but the local Montreal version of the title could.  Also, on Thursday, March 15, Watson beat Thesz in Toronto to officially capture the NWA World Title.  In two days, World Titles changed hands in both Montreal and Toronto.

( ) … Yvon Robert b. Wladek Kowalski to capture a claim to the World Heavyweight Title

*Robert was recognized as champion in Quebec City, while Kowalski remained titleholder in Montreal.  Robert wanted a match with Kowalski in Montreal, but instead was going to meet the winner of Kowalski-Ron Etchison on Wednesday, April 18, 1956.

*On Friday, April 13, 1956, Edouard Carpentier arrived in Montreal from Paris, and was subsequently met at the airport by Eddie Quinn and Larry Moquin.  Quinn said the following about the comparisons between Carpentier and Antonino Roca that was printed in the April 13, 1956 edition of the Montreal Star:  “The only difference between the two, is that Carpentier can do everything Rocca does, only  better.

Wladek Kowalski to capture an undisputed local claim to the World Heavyweight Title (2/3) (Kowalski was disqualified in the third fall and went wild following the match) (Other wrestlers came out to quelm the post-match festivities, while Robert was hurt) (Referee Murray was going to offer his opinion to the Montreal Athletic Commission that Kowalski should be indefinitely suspended) … Edouard Carpentier b. Note:  Robert was billed as the defending World Heavyweight Champion going into the match, stemming from the claim he laid following his match with Kowalski in Quebec City.

*The Montreal Star (4/28/1956) stated that Carpentier was “setting attendance records wherever he goes since his arrival here.  For example, on Thursday night at Jonquiere, what seemed to be the entire town turned out to watch him flex his muscles.”

*The Montreal Star on Monday, April 30, 1956 reported that the Montreal Athletic Commission had “today” suspended Wladek Kowalski for 30 days after last Wednesday’s bout at the Forum.  Kowalski, Yvon Robert and referee Dan Murray appeared before officials to discuss the affair.
