Ray Sherburne beat Orphie Hupp & Gustave Chauvy … NOTE: Shimkus retired with a
badly strained and swollen left arm … Brown, aka the "Pride of Taylor, Texas," and
Shimkus each made 165 pounds for the match … Hupp was billed as an AAU
welterweight champion, while Chauvy was ostensibly the king of Kelly Field welters …
Afterward, Sherburne clamored for a piece of Pet Brown who, incidentally, was managed
