Willard Brown, former boxing star and well known referee and instructor, late Friday
signed as matchmaker of a new wrestling promotion to open next Friday at the municipal
auditorium. Ed McLemore will supply the talent as he did for Bob Kline, who was given
$2000 to cease operations here for at least three years. Bill Lawlor, San Antonio liquor
dealer, will be the promoter with Brown making the matches. They plan to operate each
Friday. Willard Brown was no relation to Frank Brown, matchmaker of the Wednesday
night Wrestlethon cards.
