Notes:  This was the first time at the Arena in some time.  Silverstein was managed by Ed
White.  He became the number one contender to Bronko Nagurski’s world championship.  
Silverstein used a new hold here to win the bout, an armlock.

*According to the Friday, May 30, 1941 edition of the St. Louis Globe Democrat, Bronko
Nagurski, the National Wrestling Association World Heavyweight champion, was managed
by Tony Stecher.  He was scheduled to wrestle Ralph Silverstein for the title next
Thursday.  Nagurski reportedly spends five hours a day conditioning himself and was
training in International Falls before venturing to Minneapolis.

*According to the Sunday, June 1, 1941 edition of the St. Louis Globe Democrat, Sandor
Szabo was replacing Ralph Silverstein in the match against Nagurski.  Los Angeles
promoter George Zaharias was coming to St. Louis to see the match.  Tom Packs
reportedly made the announcement about Szabo replacing Silverstein “late Sunday.” The
reasoning was because of an “outbreak of a boil on Ruffy’s leg.” Ed White telegrammed
Packs about Silversetin’s status and requested a postponement because the latter was
going to be out “two weeks.” Szabo was said to have been called at his home in California
and accepted the proposition.  He was going to train at the Business Men’s Gymnasium
upon arrival in St. Louis.
