The St. Louis Post Dispatch (8/18/70) stated that Lanza "was dropped following a dispute with promoter Sam Muchnick." The publicity stated that O'Connor and Kowalski had "been at odds since Jan. 13, 1956 when Pat and Wilbur Snyder took a handicap match from Kowalski."
