when the men were at the edge of the mat, Jenkins secured a hammerlock, and as he was
bringing the Algerian over both rolled off the platform and fell to the floor in the midst of the
spectators. There was great confusion for a few seconds, and when the men got on their
feet there was a large-sized piece of cuticle missing from Jenkins' abdomen. There also
were teeth prints in his arms where he had been bitten by Buzayell. Referee Roche
awarded the match to Jenkins and the police placed Buzayell under arrest. A charge of
mayhem was preferred against Buzayell and he was taken to jail. Jenkins was taken to the
emergency hospital for treatment. His injuries are not regarded as serious, and it is
thought that the charge against Buzayell will not be pressed." -- Chicago Tribune, Dec. 18,
