Edmonton, Alberta: April 7, 1947 (Memorial Hall) ... Tug Carlson vs. Al Mills ... Jack Dillon vs. King Kong Clayton... Alex Gerke vs. Steve Jossul ... one other match ... (promoter: Tommy Tasker) ... (matchmaker: Cecil "Tiger" Goldstick) Notes: This show was being promoted as early as March 15, 1947 in the Edmonton Journal/Bulletin. The article stated that "it's just about a year" since the last wrestling show, and at that time, promoter Tommy Tasker was staging programs at the Empire Theater. Al Mills from Camrose was the first wrestler booked for the show. His nickname was "Mr. Murder." King Kong Clayton "once acted as sparmate for Joe Louis," and reportedly "grew up in the same Alabama area." Clayton also boxed as a pro around 1938, according to the local paper. Dillon was a Navy veteran and football player at the University of Tennessee. Clayton served in the military during the war in an all colored division in the Army and was "one of eight men who miraculously survived a Nazi trap which caught Clayton's group in a deadly cross-fire in the Sicilian fighting," according to the Edmonton Journal (3/29/47).
